I took my 97 expedition to my mechanic, and needed to do inspection on the car, well, he did it, and it failed twice (he tried twice). Now the thing is, I am not going to be in this same area for probably another month or so, and I was wondering if there is any problem if I take my car to another NY state mechanic, and be able to do an inspection? Or will there be some conflict because I did it at one place and it failed and now Im going to do it at a different place, will there be a conflict between the records?

My dad said that I cant take it to another mechanic because its in record that I took it to my first mechanic and it failed, so I have to bring it back to him to get it fixed... But I really cant wait any longer to do a repair or tuneup on the car and then do another inspection, and cant wait here any longer...

if it failed to begin with, it wont matter where you take it because it will fail. what was the reason you failed? they should have told you why, and what you have to do to fix it. i suggest u fix it, then go back or to another shop. when you fail, it goes in the computer records, so when u do a carfax, i believe failed inspections will come out.. good luck wtih that.

Oh I know that I will have to repair it, so I will just do it when i get to my next destination, and I dont care if it failed a inspection, I just want to make sure I can do another inspection at another shop without it being a problem...

shouldnt be a problem

I don't see why it would be a problem. If they question it just say you felt the shop was being dishonest with you and wanted a second opinion.

You can bring your truck to whatever shop u want to but you will have to pay the full $37.00 again. If you bring it back to the same shop within ten days it is free. By the way what did it fail for HC,CO, or Nox.

Im not to sure how the expedition failed, but he just said that it could be the Oxygen sensor, spark plugs, and that a tune up would probably fix the problem, now to me, that translated to, mechanic doing all the work, and me ending up for every little thing he investigates and/or replaces.
