If you look at the description's of their products, you'll notice that they only make installation kits. They requior (sp?) you to either purchace or provide a Vortech supercharger. I don't know anything about their products, but I do know Vortech has been around for a long time and produces quality superchargers.

I got a response from Caroll Supercharging.

I asked if they were making a kit for 99 and up Explorers. Here's what they said:

The Ford Supercharging Systems that we offer come directly from Vortech Engineering. I would check with them to see if they have anything in the works for your vehicle. Their phone number is 805-247-0226.
Best Regards,
Carroll Supercharging

There you go.

i the vortech kit will fit all year 4.0 ohv. some need some minor modifacation.

You seen to be very knowledgable, so I rely on you. Do you know if the Vortech kit needs a lot of modification for the 99? Is it the fuel return system? Thanks.

thanks i definately appriciate the help.
im going to go check it out and see what i can do.

they will fit the 99 trucks as well. as long as it is ohc know that steeda did a 2000 ranger with a vortech on it. the computer is a little harder to tune because of the returnless setup but if you wanted to convert it back it would not be to hard to do so. they require just a little modifying to make fit but not much. cutting of the braket to make provision for the battery and if you want changing the intake to the older metal one will help with suport and allinment of the center section and all of the supporting peices.

Figures. Of course I have the OHV. Well, maybe I'll find a relatively simple way to do it, or find someone to do it the hard way for cheap...

Think he meant OHV. OHV kits are much more common.

Hmmmm.... OK.

I'll have to check it out.

Hey Alec, for your air/fuel meter, which wire did you connect the unit to? (the purple one that is to be connected to the O2 sensor wire). Did you just find the wire in the engine bay near the computer? Thanks.

I connected the A/F signal wire to whatever PCM wire Autometer told me. I tried a few others first and they didn't work, so I called them and they told me the correct one for my truck. They know almost every wire to connect to for every vehicle, pretty cool.

Which wire was it.

What color was the wire you connected it to? I would imagine they are the same on our trucks. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't remember and it's under a bunch of looms and E-tape. If you get me the pin # from Autometer, I can tell you the color though from my schematic book.

I'm going to call them and see.

I have the Chiltons, but it's kinda unclear about which wire is what. First of all , there's no O2 sensor in the "4.0 OHV engine control" diagram. Int he SOHC diagram there's more than one O2 sensor, and I'm not sure which is the upstream, downstream, or what. They are just labeled by number. Plus it doesn't say which is the signal wire.

Well, I'll just call them. Thanks for your help.

Alec,

Pin 60, gray/blue. You're right, those guys know every wire...

Yup, I have only one problem with Autometer: Their tech guys don't work at all the other companies!

I've called them twice, both times they were wonderful. It's nice to see that someone has good products, a good website, good service, and they know their ****!
