I see you all have a very knowledgable tranny man and i have a question.. I had to have my heads flattened and took my motor out to clean up the mess. well when i went to put it all back together i must have fubared up the transmission pump because it barly wants to turn with the torque converter on it .. After havin it together i tried goin through the gears and it did nothing at all no gears.. and trans fluid was up high which lead me to believe it was the pump.. My converter was also sloppy sitting where its supposed to (yes made sure it was on all the splines) i could move the top and bottom in and out.. not sure if thats normal.. I had local dealership order me one up. Any suggestions on putting this in? Or where to find a how to or suggestions on that? thanks.. And should i replace the torque converter??

I suspect your torque convertor slid out a little and the flats did not engage.... you probably have a probem now with both if you tried to torque the engine to the bell.

The TC will drop into the trans pump in a couple of steps... many asume the first drop in is it.... there is one more....

Hard to tell from afar what maybe FUBAR.... possibly both the TC and pump.... possibly neither.... maybe... well you get the idea.

Well it ended up being the pump. Must have got the torque converter either not in good or came out and didn't go back in right and busted the inner gear on the pump. Got everything together and is running good but have a noise in the tranny. When i took the pump out that first gear or whatever it is that has the band around it wanted to come out so took it out everything looked fine to me but tried stickin it back in and the band came off so took it out stuck the gear thing in got it in the teeth and i had to lossen the bolt that holds the band tight or whatever to get it all back together, ran the bolt back in right how it was but now it is making a friction sound on acceleration (mostly noticable when 2500 and up.) and when going at highway speed and let off the pedal it will do it for a second then the sound goes away. Does it sound like the band needs tightened or lossened? I put everythin back the same the nut on the bolt was the same spot..
