I have read the instructions on cleaning the MAF body, and hopefully doing this will help solve my pinging problem. While I am at it, I would like to clean the throttle body as well. Can/do i use the same cleaner for the MAF? Anything else I need to know about the TB?

Sorry about your Mustang. About 10 years ago I almost bought an 83 or 84 SVO Mustang, which as you probably know was a turbo'ed 2.3 or so engine. It had the SVO wing and mods and it was white with gray.

I was looking at the pictures and it looks to me like it could be brought back to life...then again I can't say for sure based only on pix, but I have seen worse looking wrecks rehab'ed into a car that looked and ran brand new...but i know it's an expensive proposition to do that.

About the TB, yes you can use the same cleaner to clean the TB as you use to clean MAF. Make sure it's O2-safe cleaner though and make sure it's safe for TB coatings as well. TB's are coated on the inside with a material that is designed to repel dirt and dust, and you want a cleaner that won't destroy this coating.

While you're at it I would lube the throttle linkage with some lithium grease spray too.
