...first, what size motor do you have???...4x2??? what is the configuration of the exhaust on your truck now??? just match it...

...match your set up so your hangers match, use 2 1/4" as the 4.0 requires the back pressure to run proper...a good muffler shop can swap in a new muffler for about the same price as you are paying for the parts new..;)

okay, one more question. should i go with the 40 delta flow or the hush power?

...they will both work but are those your only options and why did you pic those two??? just curious

I want a good sounding muffler but i don't want it to be ridiculously loud for the size of my ranger which only has 31's

...flowmaster 40 would be fine as a bunch of rangers and explorers here use them and are happy...:D

Alright, thanks for the help :)

I also have a question, I didn't want to start a new thread so just continued this one. My question is what is the loudest flowmaster muffler you can get isnt it a 40 or is it the 60?

I am almost positive the 40 is the loudest

yeah the 40 series flowmasters is the loudest.

I got them on my 01 sport I got dual 40 series flowmasters and it sounds hella loud and deep.

lower the numbe rless restriction..and i love my 40 without the secondary cat..i dont see why you would wunna go "quiet" because of the "size of your truck and tires"..does not make sense..the 40 with a cat is modest..but sounds good..it does not roar..but it has a nicelil growl under load and pretty quiet oterhwise..i strapped a 2.5 inlet on top of my stock 2.25 piping and it fit snuge and perfect, and just clamped it down and threw a turndown o n it..you will be happy trust me..i hav it with a TB spacer and cold air intake and i love the combination

Yea that's what I thought too. If you were looking for like a V8 than a 60 series would give you better like proformance/fuel milleage if i'm not right? But thanks guys.

What would be a good muffler for something not too loud, but a nice grumble and a decent roar when you punch it? I've got a pair of 40 series on my 67 Mustang and those things are nicely noisy.

I called one of my buddies back home in Oklahoma who owns a 69 Camaro SS 427 and he has a pair of mufflers that make that beast sound like a new Ferrari with a deep lope. He called them Ferrari mufflers, but I can't remember the name of the brand who makes them (maybe Borla). Also, if it has anything to do with Ferrari, I could imagine it would be happy to come to you at an exhorbitant cost.
