Quick Q, need to know what size ball for the bumper

Just need to know what kind of ball to get for the rear bumper.. size wise. I tried searching and couln't come up with any answer.

Depends on what your going to tow, diff, hitches use sizes
 






I just want to hook a tow rope to it bub.. no trailers ;). Sled dragging heh.

OSHA requires a 2 inch ball for sled pullin :D

lol ok, I didn't know if there was a certain size the ball the bumper needed so it would actually fit. Not how much weight it could pull.. basically I don't plan an spending more than $10 anyway lol. But it's better then tying to my hatch handle and having it slip off when I was going 25mph around an icey corner heh that was a fun ride.
 






I think the 3500lb(rated;)) balls have the right diameter bolt to go through. Make sure to put some antisieze on there though. They're a ***** to get off if you don't.

I beg your pardon, you don't like my posts, don't read um, plain and simple :mad:
 






For the 3500lbs. you probably won't need bigger than a 3/4 inch shank. Pick the ball size according to the strap size. Don't go overboard since you won't need in on the bumper.

And U-Haul still refuses to rent trailers for use behind an Explorer!
But a 1 7/8 inch ball is perfect for the bumper and is rated for towing 3500# and the bolt IS 3/4".
