Quick question about painting plastic

Well I was looking for an old thread that detailed how to paint your bumpers and fenders, but it doesn't exist anymore for some reason. I also went through 30+ pages looking for people who've done this, and I'd like to ask and make sure I'm right before I do this.

I want to paint the grey bumpers and fenders on my black 99 x sport, and I just want to make sure I got this right before I mess it up . So I sand the hell out of the piece with ??? grit sandpaper, then I put primer on it, then I lightly spray the paint on, giving a few coats over time. Haha it sounds simple I just want to make sure I got it right before I do it.

I plan on getting some cans of paint from paintscratch. I'm just hoping the new paint doesn't stand out from the old paint, that would look tacky .

you are going to need the special paint for the flare and the bumper as they are flexible and not liek the metal vehicle pieces

Ok, what is the special paint? I know there's stuff like krylon fusion, but how would I even match the color, cause there's no way they'll have the same color. Are there places that will match colors to that special kind of paint?

the problem with regular paint is that it will crack on plastic

i dont know, i dont paint my trim... i know a bodyshop can do it the right way, there is an additive that you put into the paint, but that usually costa a good chunk of $... ppg paint is the good stuff that pros use

Ya got me. I know body work not so much the paint.
but yes the paint will need a flex additive.

I just did exactally what you are after. I have a 2000 Sport that had siver trim and I blackened all of it.

...i like the krylon fusion...i think the link you were looking for was a guy painted his dull fenders and bumpers on his grey X??? i got the idea at the same time and did my ranger with the krylon fusion like he did...
