Quick ?s about the Aussie Locker

Get some assembly goo. It's tacky, which helps hold the pins in during assembly.
I installed an aussie once with only differential oil, but you just have to be more careful to hold the pieces in place.

Oh, and I have pulled trailers a couple times with the rear Aussie, it works fine. The heavier the trailer is, the more you will chirp the tires turning out from a stop light and whatever. More torque means stronger lockup, but it is tolerable still.

FWIW I didn't use any grease on either of my locker installs, just a bit of gear lube.

It's in there

Took my brother and I a long Saturday to do it, but we figured it out. Had a few setbacks spacer put in backwards, pins in at the wrong times. Just a long day. I'm gonna get back in there this weekend, just to double check that all is well. But it seems to be working great. Turns are almost the same as before with the open differential, and I've chirped a couple of times coming out of corners. Those 4 pins are all that hold the two sides together right? That's the only thing that worries me, but I suppose they're supposed to be pretty high strength though right? I haven't romped on it yet, but I've given it some gas and no strange noises.

Did find out that the rear brakes are pretty much shot, so that's another thing I need to do soon too. I e-mailed Hawk about which pads to get. I'll start a new thread on that too.
