My explorer has had a bad tranny since January of this year and all of the rebuild quotes have been to much that im thinking of trying to rebuild it myself over time....the first question is...since the tranny is dead as it is, and A4LD's dont have drain plugs...can I unplug a cooler line and let it empty itself while running since its already dead? I cant really see this hurting it more than it already is.

just take the pan bolts out

You can remove the tranny cooler line on the driver's side and pump out the contents of the pan. You want to disconnect the soft line from the hard line located at the bottom of the radiator. It doesn't take long to pump out the fluid in the pan.

Thanks Surf...the truck is sitting on the street so that'll be the easiest way
