what % is the rear side (large) window tint on a 2000 explorer sport? any suggestions on a good brand or source for tint?

i tinted a ranger i used to have by myself and felt good about the results...though i just used wal-mart tint...so i feel like i can do this myself. just looking for suggestions.

Welcome to the site,
i'm not sure about your question, but just remember you get what you pay for, if you buy cheap tint over some thats just slightly more expensive you probably won't get as good of results

also where in indiana are you from?

yeah weayher you can do it yourself or not id get some good tint or have it professionaly done. i can do it to but for about 120 bucks i have no shame in letting them do it (all windows) but anyhow good luck and try to get some pics up for us.

18-20 % is what they told me when i went to have mine matched

My 2000 Sport cost $160.00 at one of the best, most reputable places in Maryland. Life time warrenty, worth every penny.

right on

thanks for the advice everybody...i think i'll sleep on this one. i'm still tempted to experiment with it just for kicks. if i do decide to try it myself, should i go with a smoke or limo tint?

i had my front and side windows done to match the factory tint. cost around 75$. the guy at the shop just looked at it and could tell. he said 15%. the tint matches exactly. anyway they should have a light meter that could tell you the exact tint.

I get my stuff done at Zeibart - where in Indiana are you from again - I'm from Indiana and they have a ton of those stores around the state ... my 01 Sport back cargo area tint was said to be around 20% .... if you go with zeibart mine was like 125 for the front two windows and the small middle windows .. :D

yo

i'm from bloomington...there is a zeibart here. i had a truck done there a few years ago and they weren't able to get it as dark as i wanted. i got some 20% tint today and after lunch i'm going to take a stab at the small rear seat windows to see how it turns out.

5% limo from side view mirros ALL the way back (incl over the existing tint on rear) $180 with lifetime warranty.

alright i gave the tint i got a shot...looks like i'm just gonna have to get it done professionally ;)

thanks for all the advice. i'm going to try to find a shop around here that can match the back windows at a reasonable price.

It always seems like it's hard to get the factory tint matched good. The factory tint is almost like a reflective tint and it's hard to get that kind of tint matched up. I've seen some good ones and I've seen a lot of bad ones. Good luck and try to get some pictures of your ride up.

i had 5% put on all the windows. i was also concerned that 5% on top of the factory tints in the back would be darker than the 5% alone in the front, but it matched perfectly. one thing to keep in mind though. your front windows will be a little lighter because of the fact that sunlight comes in through the widnshield.

use discression too.
Keep local laws in mind when chosing your tint shade.
