'99 Explorer XLT AWD V8
thought I would share my defeat. I pulled up next to a new GMC Envoy last night at a two lane stop light. Light turned green and somehow we both took off at the exact same time. We were dead even until my X shifted into 3rd gear than he pulled on me to where his rear bumper was at my front bumper, but than he stopped pulling and we stayed like that until we had to slow down. seems like my truck was good down low and up high, but in the mid range is where i got spanked....:(

i thought for sure i could beat a V6....:(

the envoy is a straight 6, but at 275 hp, it has some grunt to it.

:chug: :chug:

those envoys and trailblazers are fast. my dad was looking at one for awhile, and i test drove it. they got some power

it's the lightness of the engine. my sohc v6 will beat any stock v8 explorer off the line. all stock, no mods for power at all. and on top of that i'm running 31's with only 3.73 gears. go figure:confused:

i did have 3 people in my X at the time, so that probably didn' help any. oh well, what can ya do?

but if that straight six is rated at 275hp i don't feel so bad because the 5.0L X is only rated at 230hp i think.

anyway, exhaust will be done this coming saturday so i'll try to find another one that will race and see what happens than........i'll probably still get spanked

hrmm, I got beat this morning by a woman in a montero limited and a buy in an 86 chevy k10 shortbed with a boat inside his bed..

were you racing? like an official "hey wanna race?" or was it an understood?

with these people this morning.. I wasn't racing them.. they were driving normal and I was trying to accelerate faster than them.. I couldn't do it.. 5.slow I guess heh

happened the other daywith an 86 corolla too.

I haven't tried any envoys tho.. most people that drive those here are rather old, and care nothing about going even a moderate speed.. or so it seems heh

no, it wasnt actually a "hey, wanna race?" but it was more like eye contact as your both flooring it.

I don't even know if I should considered as lost. This dude in a '98 or a '99 Honda Prelude with a fart pipe and stuff raced me a little while ago. Well, the light turned green and off we went. He was flooring it b/c I could hear the sound of his muffler. Anyways...initially, I was ahead of him by about a second or two (2 to 3 car lengths) then he caught up and passed me at around 60 mph but we had to slow down b/c the light was red. Do you guys consider me as a lost??

thats the ricer flyby.. they dont give up until they pass you.. they dont care if you fly past them and brake.. its not over till they win lol

I wouldn't consider it anything.. its just a prelude.. your truck is 100X what that car is :P

On a happy note I beat a 2002 civic last nite. We must have looked like a couple of turtles out there, but my turtle was faster!

Hahaha. Too funny....I feel bad for ya Dark Fox...I'm sorry :chug:

I lost against a 2001 R/T Durango last week...:(
BUT- his durango was pretty modded with cold intake and superchip, plus his big 5.9L is a little bigger than my 4.0 OHV and I had about 110K miles over him...why did I race him again?:D
On a plus note, I whomped a 98 Blazer and a 94 4Runner, not too bad for an old 92.
96explorereddiebauer-darkfox is absolutely right, you didn't lose that one. Ricers always have to go ahead even after the race is over.
Slick- It always warms my heart when I hear of a fellow X'er kicking some honda @ss!! Great job.
Holty- You had three people in there??? That's like 400-500 lbs extra weight, I wouldn't feel too bad. Sounds like your X put a heck of a fight for that GM.

Well I get offended on the road pretty easily so I get into races pretty quick. Like when someone cuts me off I have to get up there get in other lane and rev at them at the red light. Anyways its gotten me in quite a few races.

My 93 X didn't see much action but it was fun playing with her.

Win- Toyota Corolla
Loss- Ford Explorer 03
Win- Honda civic looked like some POS, should I even consider this a win?

All of those were off a red light and rev was given and returned.

Now for my baby, the 96 X. Sure I only have a v6 OHV on it but still it does some damage.

Win- Honda Accord, looked kinda new like 95-00
Win- Honda civic HB with loud ass exhaust had to have been a 95ish.
Win- Dodge Caravan..... Was truely pathetic that he even tried, I laughed my ass off. and I had 4 people in total in the truck.
Loss- Honda prelude02
Win- Toyota Corolla
Win- 1st Gen X

All I can remember for now I know there has to be way more. Not many people expect a truck to do so much damage. And I just LOVE kicking some rice boy ass, but ya they do do the whole not over till they win deal.

I've got an '02 R/T. These things are incredibly quick. All I have is intake. Stock they're like 335 ft/lbs torque and, at least IMO, these things are quick. Get in the driver seat and floor it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

huskyfan23- I know:(
I was still proud of my little 1st gen for doing so well...but that doesn't change the fact that he won:frustrate
