Radiator lower shield(?)

Lower shield: leave off and toss or always replace it after doing a job

Taking a quick poll.
That plastic cover that goes under the radiator, does anyone still use that or do most folks leave it off? I assume itis supposed to help direct air toward the radiator, but does it really? I ask because I find it annoying to have to remove it every time I'm working in that area.
 






Mine is on.....then off then on again
 






I ran without one for years. Was never a problem.
 






I think it's called a drip pan, and it's purpose is to catch any errant coolant drips.
I'll bet there's an EPA regulation requiring it on new vehicles.
I removed mine because of the aggravation it caused when draining the
coolant etc...
