is there a difference between ex and ranger transfer case other than the electronics on the ex? my ex doesnt really seem to have that great of a lo range if they are different, has anyone swapped them? what is involved in the swap? is the ranger case more durable or have a lower low? also im going to be doing a spring over with 35's and im wondering if its going to cause alot of axle wrap? also im new to building an explorer. what are the common problems with them? what is the front end? a 44 or a 30? are they durable? what about the rear? just trying to find out what im getting myself into. thanks its a 92 explorer

You my friend need to search and you will find all your answers.

But the explorer and ranger cases are the same BW1354 elec or manual.

A SOA (Springover) with 35's may cause some axle wrap, there are many ways to compensate for that.

Common problems: automatic transmission failure, head gaskets, auto hubs, ect. Look around and you will find details on everything I have said.

And for the front end, you ahve neither. Its a dana 35 reverse rotation center section in fords Twin Traction Beam setup

The rear is a very strong Ford 8.8"
