found this site i am try to find out if anyone knows what the problem with my ranger 2003 with a 2.3 while driving i have a little power unless i play with gas peddle and i have black smoke coming out the tailpipe

Does it turn on when the key is switched on?

check engine light is on code is p0171 but that is for my intake manifiold runner is bad

black smoke means too much fuel, might be an intake air restriction, or a stuck open injector,,
