Hey, I've got a 01 sport trac 4wd, just wanted to know if anyone has removed their rear blocks to lower the rear. 2wd or 4wd, doesn't matter, as the rear end is the same. If you have, please tell me how it rode, and how much it lowered.
Thanks in advance,
Zach

Edit: Yes its a four door with a truck bed

What blocks? I have an '01 ST and have replaced the complete rear diff assembly. There were no "blocks" between the springs and the diff. Maybe someone added the blocks to yours in the past?

or maybe he has a sport with a mono leaf?

Maybe, but he's saying it's a "Sport Trac" and he's posting in the Sport Trac sub-forum... IDK.

only explorer with a 1" block was mono leaf sport
I would not remove it because it is there as a spacer so the U bolts will actually work with a mono leaf
What should be done is remove the mono leaf and install real leaf springs

If it is a 2-door "Sport" (and not a 4-door Sport Trac) with the mono springs, besides the u-bolts being too short if the spacers is removed, I'd think removing the blocks would also change the pinion angle (especially if the blocks are angled).

I didn't look, i just assumed it had one. can i take out the helper springs to lower it?

IIRC the ST's axle sits on top of the spring pack, so removing leaves will have no effect on lowering your truck. You could add a lowering block between the axle and the spring pack. The kit will come with longer u-bolts. If you decide to do this, be sure to get a kit with the correct type of u-bolts for your application. Some vehicles use a square-shaped u-bolt and other's use a U-shaped u-bolt. I'd start with a 2" block. Note: Doing this may adversely effect your pinion angle, but maybe not.
