I searched for as long as I was able to and could not find what I needed.
How many quarts of fluid will the rear end of my 97 Explorer XLT 2wd take? Also, is there anything I need to know or anything I should look for?
Thanks in advance!

Haynes manual says 5.5-5.8 pints. So, you'll need 3quarts.

Take some Bra-Kleen and clean the ABS sensor if it looks dirty. You can see it right there when you have the cover off.

Good deal. Thanks guys!

Very important to loosen the fill plug prior to draining.

+1 on this!! Not good to take the back off, drain all the old fluid, and find you can't get the fill plug open to put new fluid in!!!

Check your parking brake shoes if you have 4 wheel disc brakes. If they need replacing, buy two axle seals and do them at the same time.
