Rear door help!!!

[95XLT]

I have a '95 XLT and am having problems with the rear hatch. When I open the whole door it never shuts right, I always get the "door ajar" light. I need to slam it shut a few times before it will shut right. I can't get just the glass to open too, no matter how far I turn the handle it won't open. Also the handle itself seems very lose.

What should I try to fix it? What should I replace first?

I can't help you much about the liftgate glass because mine opens and shuts very smoothly. As for the liftgate, sometimes I couldn't get it shut the first time unless I slam it shut. This could probably be the balance of the liftgate. I know '96-'00 Chrysler minivans had this problem because of poor design. Since I know it could be a design flaw, I tend to just suck it up and slam the door shut now.

I have the same prob with the back glass sometimes. Feels like it is slipping inside the handle or something. If I'm easy with it when it starts messing up, it will work and then I won't have another problem for awhile.
