Hello all,

I just replaced the 'door ajar' switch and power door lock actuator on the REAR driver's side door in my 97.

I put it all back together and tested it. Light comes on, door lock and unlocks. Then I noticed this:

The inside door handle will open the door if the door is unlocked, but will not open the door if it's locked.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to or not - because I never tested this before I took everything apart.

Should a rear door unlock when you pull the handles? I know the front doors do. Second, what could I have screwed up to cause this to happen?

I appreciate any help.

Ryan

Check the "child proof lever" On the door. You have to open the door to see it.

Edit. On second thought, the door would not open from the inside locked or not if set to "child proof".

Child locks are turned off. The door will open from the inside, unless the door is locked.

if the child locks are not used regularly, they can stick and remain on even if they appear to be off. be sure their linkage is lubricated and working.
