New to this forum but am on Taurus forum and have found it very useful, hopefully this one will be also.

I have an 02 XLTwith a noise in rear end since we bought it that I attributed to road/tire noise, after all it is a truck. ecentl I noticed that the noise comes and goes as I press on accelerator. When I take foot off gas noise goes away. Definetly from rear end, others think from right rear but I can not tell.

Searching forum I see mention of replacing with differntial with synthic gresae but this doesn't sound right as noise goes away when I tkae foot off gas.

Any ideas?

Dave

Hello Dave,
This post was very long ago but I’m having what seems like the exact same problem. Wheel bearings, dragging calipers, half shaft, parking brake shoes?Been going on for a long time.
Did you ever find a solution?

Regards
