you will have to loosen the bolts on the hinges that attach to the BODY and not the GATE (no, i am not yelling :) ). when that is done, push the top of the gate in to where you want it, and tighten the bolts back up. you don't need to totally loosen them, just enough so you can move your gate.

I have a similar problem, but have not replaced anything. My 99 body is stock, but last week I noticed a bigger gap at the top. The gate, when closed is TOO HIGH in the door gasket and I can see daylight all along the top of the opening, and it snags the roof when opening or closing. I tried all advice given here, one adjustment at a time. I have tried adjusting after removing the gas springs, . I am guessing the hinge pins are worn (?). but have not come across ANY info on this. This is one I can neither figure nor wrestle for a win. Your help would be appreciated.
