Hey,
Need a recommendation for replacement struts for the rear window hatch. What brand have you used and been satisfied with?
Thanks

I used Ford brand Motorcraft. Soon after that one of the old hinges broke.

Strong Arm is what I have been finding around. I don't think they are worth the price some places charge, but I shopped around and found prices I could work with.
I don't recall having any failures, and I do have records of all that I have replaced. Taurus, and both my Explorers have them.

Where are you located? I'll send you mine from my 04. I took them off after the brand new OEM hinges broke in the same place the old ones broke. The second time the glass hit me in the head.

One was broke when I bought it. I was hauling some things for my cousin and the other side gave out. The glass just launches at you with the struts on. So I left standing there holding the heavy piece of glass trying to get someone's attention to help me.

Ordered and replaced the hinges and about the 8 months later I noticed they were a little loose. So I grab my T40 bit and tighten. 3 turns on the right side 2 1/4 turns on the left and the bolt snapped. It was opened so I nice smack to head almost made me drive the damn truck over a hillside. I decided I didn't need to use the glass ever again. Ran a bolt thru it like the previous owner and removed the struts so it can't shoot out anymore. Not fun.
