I looked over this forum but could not find my answer. I have a v6 4x4 explorer (3rd gen) and have 3.55 open gearing. I am wanting to put in an Aussie locker to increase my off-road capabilities. The question I am asking is, do I have to change the carrier in the rear to accommodate the size of the locker? Or are all the carriers in the rear the same? I know the front would have to be changed if I wanted to re-gear. But I can't find any info anywhere about this.

No need to change the carrier. Locker will fit into your 3.55 open one just fine.

This thread should help if you haven't seen it already:

for the 8.8 you have 2 different open carriers, one for 3.55 and below and one for 3.73 and above. But the part where the spider gears (or the aussie locker) go is the same size as far as I know.

I have been looking at that forum for a while now. I saw that you swapped carriers but that seems to be only for the re-gear. I saw while I was searching the web that there are some lockers that fit in 3.55 carrier and lower and some for the 3.73 carrier and higher. It wasn't specified for the Aussie so I thought I might ask around.
Thank you
