So i've been having problems with my 97 explorer XLT's back passenger side door. It's been staying in the lock position and won't open at all. I have heard this is a very common problem and I am wondering if anyone has had the same issue, and have been able to resolve it? I have found out if I get the door panel off, and pull the lock mechanism up while pulling on the outside door handle (from the inside of the door) it sometimes will unlock. The only problem is, if someone happens to close the door a little too hard it gets stuck again. What will help it from locking up again?
