I have been poking around since I need to get a few tow hooks back on after the body lift and in searching there are quite a few options for the front but the rear is not really mentioned?
Do most of you use your trailer hitch? I removed mine because I could not stand the gap after the body lift and probably will not be able to afford having one built before heading out to play this summer

Roxborough, eh? I'm in highlands ranch. I use to work at Lockheed right there.

As far as rear recovery point, I've seen straps/chains wrapped around the shackle and the rear axle itself. Obviously the best method is something connected directly to the frame- like a tow hook or a sturdy bumper with some shackle tabs.

Get a bad ass bumper built- I know a guy up around Federal and Evans who built my stuff.

If you're looking for a good local forum that organizes a bunch of trail runs throughout the year, check out frontrange4x4.com.

I have seen your ex on Titan a few times:thumbsup:

My ultimate goal is to have a Prius pusher front and back but sadly the money will not be there this year and most everything I have seen for the rear aside from the hitch looks flimsy but might be the best option for this summer.

Which shop built your bumpers? Federal and Evans is just up the road from my office so i may need to run up this week and see what they can do!

It doesn't really help but yes, I use my hitch as a recovery point. I was able to move it up enough that there is not a huge gap between it and the bumper.

You can use the factory bumper mount tow ball hole and put a recovery shackle onto it. This will give you a strong recovery point, you can hook a tow strap to it, chains or a someone's winch wire to pull you out. I would never hook anything to the leafspring shackles or rear axle, I've seen some serious damage from guys trying to get yanked out using this method.

Rebel, I had not thought about a shackle through the stock trailer ball hole but I think that is my ticket for this year! Thanks!

Tom, I will give Loren a buzz this week to see about a couple of estimates as this might be the last year I can really dump money into the trac

Used my class III trailer hitch, a 3" 15' long tow strap and 2 "C" type shackles to pull a 4400 lb Honda Pilot buried up to the axels in snow. My ST didn't even grunt, could have pulled it from NY to LA...

For any light pulling I use my hitch. But I went to the junk yard and grabbed acouple f150 front tow mounts (also found on the expedition) and I bolded them to the outter part of my frame on the rear end acouple feet behind my bumper. For now I can only use these with straps because ropes and chains will rub on my bumper and ###### something up. But once I have my lift I shouldn't have to worry about this.

Those shackle hitches are really nice to have. I need to get one
