Rear Tire Rack

ok....gettin sick of the tire on the roof thing...besides custom fabrication what has anyone done with a rear tire carrier...possible thinking a late generation bronco one?

Cory @ CRLcustoms.com makes rear bumpers with tire carriers on them.. I'd think if you use a bronco or other kind of carrier that mounts to the body, the body would get torn up in time without some good reinforcment..

The body of the Explorer is not designed to support a tire carrier.

yeh...well then my question is whats so special about a bronco IIS body that makes them able to handle that extra odd weight on the body...what exactly does cory make involving the bumper? I just stuck in the back now and organized all my off road junk back there, but I would like to get it out cause its takes up so much space! I was also thinkin of choppin the little bend in the cradle of the undercarriage tire carrier to make room for the 32s, might work...but the brake line is still kinda in the way...hmmmm

Bronco II has swing gate hinges buit into the RR pillar designed for the weight of a (stock) tire.

move the brake line.... hoses can be moved and made anyshape you want them to be......

Thats what im gunna use for my trucks .

Its the right liength and everthing its not the stock but an aftermarket tire carrier for a 84 S-10 Blazer(dads project truck)

we held it up to the truck last night and it looked pretty good . Tonight we have fun with a plasma(sp?) cutter to make the brackets fit around the hinges.
