rear u joint

i have searched around for a few hours and haven't found the answer. I need to get a new rear u-joint for my 94 ex. I have gone to autozone AND pep boys and they both have sold me the wrong one. I want to one that goes to the rear axle. Can someone help me out and give me a part number or something from either place that would be the correct one from either place?

Check online first. I know AutoZone has an online shopping site. Get the part # online, go to the store and just ask for that part #. Most of the time you can even verify whether or not a local store has a part in stock or not - which saves you time and gas in case a store doesnt.

I matters 4WD or 2WD. did you specify when they looked up the #?
The 'U' at the transmission is a different one then the one closer to the rear Axle.

Also, Maunual Trani and Automatic are different 'U' joints

4WD with automatic is smaller then 4WD Manual trani.

I'm showing it's just a 1330 for all of them. The 2wd/4wd/auto/manual just changed the length of the shaft.

NAPA has different numbers for auto's and manual.
Looks like the OD of the Cap is the same but the Body is larger on the 4WD Manual trani 3.22" ( automatic) vs 3.62" (manual)
1330 is the manual trani one. NAPA# 354
2WD or 4WD with Automatic. Both 'U' joints are the same NAPA #369 equivalent to the 1310

I don't know then..I had a load of ford OEM rear shafts and all of the explorer ones were 1330 outside snap ring..

They have different numbers for Auto and MAnual too. 4 dr and 2 dr.

x2- I think they are all 1330 for the rear and 1310 for the front (where it may apply).

All the u-joints are the same in the drive shafts front and rear. The front axle has different ones. They are the same 2wd/4wd/auto/manual. It shouldn't and doesn't matter, despite what some of the online catalogs might say.

First gen had different U-joints for auto and Manual. Manual joint was larger. Second Gen auto's use same U-joint as first gen Manuals. At least mine does...

That is strange. I looked at Rockauto's catalog and that may be true. But that makes no sense to me since the first gen auto's had a larger towing capacity. :scratch:

The first gen Manual tranny was rated to tow 2500lbs. I was able to tow my 5000lb boat with my 91 5 speed without any issues, but I used common sense. Auto tranny are usually rate to tow more, it not just the u-joint size.
