Rear view mirror wiring ?

Has anyone tried tapping into the dimming rear mirror power supply to install a radar detector? I'm trying to put a radar detector under the rear view mirror without having a power wire coming all the way down my dash and into the only powerpoint in the console.

I'm not sure what the voltage is there, but that location might interfere with your compass if you have one.

It would be handy if it will work.I hate stretching my power cord down to the lighter plug.

I dont think there is enough power for the rear view mirrow and the radar detector to run at the same time but i may be wrong. I might have to tap into the courtesy light but the only problem is that i'll have to remember to turn the radar detector off every time i exit the truck.
