Rear Wiper Motor

I have a rear wiper motor that has been about to go out since I bought my 2000 X. It recently quit. I asked a guy who worked for the Ford place (because I had no idea what the problem was I think the relay wiring was throwing me off causing me to lead to believe it was a wiring problem) He said, if I turn it on and yank up on it and it works again, then it is the motor. It will work for a while he said then he said it will quit again. For the time being it works. However I wanna know ¿Has there been a recall on it? (I recently did the Cruise Cable and driver side seat bold bushing and it didn't pop up) also, Has Ford developed an improved rear wiper motor? or is my best bet an aftermarket? or is my best bet a salvage yard, save money 'cause it's gonna go out again in 2-3 years? Any opinions/experience?

my wiper motor died twice on me in 5 years. First time replaced under warranty and they told me it was an upgraded model. i was rear ended 2 years later and i don’t know if the body shop replaced it with a oem or aftermarket motor. I’m guessing it was an aftermarket one because it died 6 months later. i bought a new motor on ebay for 40 bucks and replaced it myself (real easy to do BTW). And no problems since

If I were you I would just buy a motor from a junker or an aftermarket one and replace it yourself.

It took me about 20 minutes to replace it and I don’t normally work on my car

That last one you got, was it the up-graded Ford one from the Ford dealership or Where did YOU get IT?

it is a ford motor but i dont know if it is the upgraded model. i bought it off ebay. I figure it's fairly cheap and easy to install if it does break agian so i didnt really care.

rear wiper motor is about the same in all years. there are no aftermarket wiper that will fit the hatch of the x. salvage yard is the best place to get a great bargain. i have mine for almost 9 years now and it is still ticking.

i went through 3 wiper motors in 3 years..... Its now shaved

im in the process of doing it right now. Im weling it. I have auto body in school so i work on it everyday. I am shaving everything in the back except the handle, pass side lock and antenna. I am then molding on a rollpan with the EE fornt airdam. I have all the parts and have got all my emeblems and stuff off to shave, all i have to do is fill the holes and finish the rollpan. I will probibly have pics of the truck in complete primer by the end of the month.!!!

Wow. You got some nice plan. You are lucky to be down south. You still got plenty of hot weather left. We are about done here in NY. Every project I got is on hold.

i'll be working on it half the winter too. my lisence is gone til jan 8th. thank got for school funding because i get all my stuff at cost and i have every tool needed in a heated/ AC shop w/paint booth
