Hey guys my 98 x 5.0 rear wiper is t working. I replaced both relays first. Still nothing. Then replaced the motor and fnally had a rear wiper after years of not having one. Tested multiple times to ensure it worked. Well finally put a blade on it today and its not working again. Both relays are clicking when the switch is on. But nothing from the wiper. Any suggestions? Thajnks in advance

Is the blade getting stuck between the rear window and the hatch?

No its not even moving the motor isnt even running.

I just bought a rebuilt Cardone and it lasted for less than a week. As you know, these things have a very high fail rate. I did take it back and got another one and it seems to be working okay. I can go pull them from a junkyard and about 1 in 4 seem to work or less. I have managed to get them working on all of mine. I have had to grind off the spring as mentioned in another thread, bend the wiper arm, and put washers behind the mount on the lift gate to prevent the wiper from getting caught.

My experience with rear wipers on Explorers is that they don't work at all, or when they do move, they don't clean the window very well (about 50% of the blade length gets swiped).

Before you give up on the wiper motor, try simply turning the internal control knob on, then walk to the back of the truck, extend the blade away from the body, and tap down on the arm with your palm a time or two.

As for not wiping the entire window, if you simply bend the upper wiper motor mount inward a little (have to take off inner panel to do it) then you will get full contact.

I got full contact with the revised wiper arm. If you search on here for TSB Wiper, you can probably find the ford part number.

If the rear glass door switch failed, it will not let the wiper to move (it "thinks" that the glass door is open).
