I need to rebuild the 8.8 and figure I might as well go all out and get 4.56 to go with the 33's. Opinions on Yukon, Superior Gear, FMS, Precision Gear, Motive Gear and others would be appreciated. I have all the tools needed to make quick work of this job just lacking the brand name know all. From what I gather Yukon are the top of the line ($$$), FMS are easy to setup (math ouch), but what about the rest. I see a set of Superior gears for sale.. Anyone heard of superior?

As for bearings I would go Timkin if possible but what about SKF, BCA and Koyo.

I can't rememeber who on this forum told me about him, but here's how you contact him:

Search for discountgearing as the username on ebay and respond with a question to one of his auctions and tell him what you'll need, he'll send you a paypal invoice.

I just told him d35 Ifs and 8.8 4.88's and he put the package together. I didn't know I was gonna get Yukon's, that made it even better!!!

If you want to buy it soon just search this ebay item #: 320006461671 and ask seller a question, than just tell him what you want.

He even made sure I got the D35 IFS install kit. (not the regular d35 kit that some people mistakenly buy)

UPDATE:

Bought Everthing for $419 Shipped and its all Yukon!

4.88 Gears with both install Kits!!!

Try that guy on ebay. That's a great deal for all Yukon parts.

Yukon all the way. Toughest gears out there.

Im torn. I just installed the 4406, and now I'm rebuilding the 8.8. I cant afford to do the D35 at the same time (will be pulling driveshaft). The question is do I even bother with the D35 or go all out and get a D60 or something for up front. Does it make sense to rebuild a D35?????

Heres the kicker. When I rebuilt the LSD I noticed the drivers side axle (from diff to wheel) bearings surface was slightly scored. A little pitted and some blue discoloration. Is the axle a write off, or can I just throw in some new bearings and say the heck with it.

I have a track record of around 70 rear gear swaps and I consistantly use Ford Racing gears. They will be the easiest setup and will run quieter. Motive has seemed to suprise me lately.

I have a tendancy to want to stick with Ford parts. Too many problems with aftermarket stuff (Rancho 9000x in cab controller, alternator, starter, spark plug wires. You name it they have all in one way or another created some sort of problem).
Started a list of parts to rebuild the front and rear diffs. I wanted to price out the compnents seperately and then the kits. Well see which is cheaper.
Rear Diff:
M802048 Pinion
M802011 Pinion
M88048 Pinion
M88010 Pinion
LM603049 Carrier
LM603012 Carrier
6408 (Roller) Axle
3604 Pinion Seal
8835S Axle Seal

Front Diff:
HM88648 Pinion
HM88610 Pinion
HM86649 Pinion
HM86610 Pinion
LM501349 Carrier
LM501314 Carrier
714675 Pinion Seal

The fore mentioned seller has 8.8 rebuild kits and Yukon gears- I bought stuff from him for a good price and he shipped fast.

The website is www.completeoffroad.com- its the same place as discountgearing on ebay.

Thanks mountaingreen.. So far it looks its gonna be cheaper to get everything already packaged up in one shot. For those wondering the original bearings have 255000km on them. First front and rear diff fluid change was at about 250000km. Not bad.
