not sure if this is the right forum move if you need to.

got a 4.0L motor from a 92 explorer.

Posting on here to get your guys oppinion
all my parts are machine shop cleaned and pressure tested

my plans:
Bore .30 over
racing cam
Aftermarket pistons, (unaware of any types... suggestions?)
do they make performance lifters for the first generation explorer?
ide love aluminum heads

any other suggestions or information would be very appreciated

well i can tell you what i did to mine to maybe give you some idea of what you might like to do. i bored it to .30 over, racing cam, headers(relativly cheap horsepower), and i plan on getting a jet moduel for it as well. i have it on good authority that you probably dont want to go too crazy on the cam due to smog laws. also you might not want to get aluminum heads just because 1)they would be expensive, if they even make them for that motor 2) the stock heads make that v6 very tuff.

as for the pistons i got the stock oversized or whatever the standard "next size up" would be...be careful with aftermarket pistons that dont have that little cup on the top because you might need a higher octane gas or you might not, it is hard to tell sometimes.

this is pretty much everything that is off the top of my head but if you have any questions, im going through the same proccess that you are right now and i have the same exact engine(91' eddie bauer 4X4). dont be shy...if i dont know the answer i know somebody that does :)
