Recommend a Set up!

Since I have not done it I am really not sure. But I am sure you can if you want, now a days you can integrate any aftermarket thing, to the stock setup.

I like a stealth set up.
Nice system, that looks stock. ;)

That would be cool, but may require a little bit more work, and research. Say if you want an ipod input, that my be difficult to do. but as far as getting a sub hooked up that should be fairly easy.

Drop an extra $80 or so bucks on an aftermarket head unit. I have had a cheap Kenwood in my explorer, and had it in my old chevy, for about two years with no problems out of it, it has the fornt usb and aux. you could get similiar models on ebay/amazon for pretty cheap. I didn't buy an aftermarket harness, I wired straight into the stock wires. Better connections and allows more current to flow for better power. As for subs, if you don't mind used products, I'm not sure about Canada, but I have gotten many good deals at pawn shops. I got about 500 bucks worth of subwoofers/box for 175 bucks a month or two ago.

I already have my Ghetto aux in! :D

I've been using it for like, 4 years now without any problems.

It's one of those tape to Aux in adapters.
Bought a Sony one for like $20 when they were first available, had a minor issue with it cause of the Ford radio, so I removed a certain part in it, and it works beautifully!

Well then, you did good, the tape deck in my Explorer was toast when I got it, but I knew I was going to upgrade anyway.

Did you end up getting that Sub/box and amp combo that you sent me the link to?

No, the guy stopped responding when I asked him where he's located.
Priceless..

Now, I think I'm gonna wait off a bit since I need a new muffler, 4 new tires and a new battery. :/

I always hate that NEED/WANT balance that always seems to pop up... :(

But at least this will give you more time to dream up more ideas, and research.

I really hate to say it.. but I'm thinking about buying a car too.

As a teenager, the Explorer isn't exactly your ideal ride..
People laugh at it. Especially since mine is an XL, barebone stock look..

If you decide to keep the explorer i recommend you run 2 10" subs in a dual ported box. I use to have only one but I felt it wasn't enough bass to fill the cabin. Audio isn't something you want to go cheap with so just save up your money and buy everything new from a local dealer. I'm only 19 with a part time job so it can get pricey but it's worth it in the end.

Dude, think of how many chicks you can fit into the Explorer!!! I am 21 years old, all my friends have crappy 4cyl cars, and hate them, I went for what I wanted, and could afford, which happened to be my Explorer. I am not trying to sway you, it is your decision, but if you have something that is reliable, and gets you from point A to B, then keep it. If your friends laugh at you, it because they are jealous! :D I think that denial is a good way to live, when you cannot afford what you Really want. Which for me is a '95 F-350 Dually with a 7.3L Diesel!

Since I sort of went off in the last part, also keep in mind many parts are swappable in the Explorers, so you can upgrade yours for VERY cheap by taking a few parts off of one in the Junk Yard.

If you do plan on doing a Stereo just hit me up, I'll still help you out.

Oh gosh, I think I sound like a broken record at this point, but it's impossible to find cheap parts around here.

I have a whole list of stuff I wanna do to the Ex, but after checking prices here and online, it's obvious how expensive stuff is here.

I got an estimate for the Monroe Sensa Trac shocks? The ones with the spring on them/adjustable ones.
1A Auto has 2 for about $115?
The parts store near me wants $250. Not gonna happen.

You don't always need to get new parts, The junk yard is a great place for used parts, I am unsure how popular the Explorer is up in Canada, but around me there is at least 20 in each yard year round. Also that price doesn't sound too far off of what I payed. Although it sounds like that parts store is rippin' you off bit times.

Didn't mention that was the sale price.

Anyway, back on topic.
Today I was looking at some stuff in Walmart. (Don't hate)
They actually have decent head units, and when I say decent, I mean Pioneer, not Dual crap.

So, next question is, Double or Single Din?
It's not like it matters, right?

My walmart had the following two Pioneer headunits:

Pioneer DEH-15UB
Pioneer DEH-X35UI

Haven't looked into them yet.
I want a cheaper head unit. Under $100.
And remember to use Crutchfield.CA please. ;)

Not hating, just not a fan of it personally. I know many people with Wally World HU, that have never had an issue. I prefer Single, mainly due to it being $200-$300 cheaper than a double din with the same options. I do really want a double din with GPS, but with everything I want it would cost me $1000-$1500, I cannot justify that price.

As for the HU, the Pioneer DEH-X35UI is actually what my buddie bought for his Jeep, he really likes the color changing display, but he hasn't bough a new HU for over 7 years...lol. I personally like the MixTrax on that HU, works really well, as for the other one, you should have no issue with it. It will work, and be a massive upgrade over stock, plus you won't have to use a tape adapter, so your iPod input will be much higher quality.

I've been searching up the 2.
The one with Mixtrax is reputable. The other one is unknown.. Can't really find it anywhere.

Anyway, for about $120, do you think it's worth it? And what adapters and such must I buy?
Obviously the install kit for like $20 so it doesn't look like crap..

I think it will outlast your truck to be honest, it has nearly every option you will need, and plus it looks good. You will need the $20 Metra Dash kit, and a Harness from the truck to the new Head Unit. Probably another $15-$20, this is all guestamated US dollars BTW. Since there are 3 stereos offered in the Explorer, and I forgot which one you said you have, the price for the Harness may go up a little, if you have the Premium, but not JBL version.

I know I don't have JBL.
I have the radio with a tape in, a CD option on it, but no CD drives anywhere, and it has the autoset button.
What harness is that?
And, the antenna should plug right in?

The Antenna plugs right in, no worries there, but I am not 100% on the right harness. I would just bring your truck to a Best Buy, and show the tech there, and he can get you the right harness.

Best Buy doesn't do that here anymore. We have futureshop, which is owned by Best Buy to do car audio. I want to know what harness, because the company I would buy the stuff from gives me a free dash kit and harness with the head unit, so it would be nice to know.

Oh, well to be honest I really don't know, and I would hate to tell you the wrong one.
