Reconnecting Clutch Line

hey all I Have a 91 Exp Sport, 2dr, 5spd, 4x4, 4.OL. I am trying to reconnect the hydaulic line, not disconnect, I have the tool and that went well. I am even using the tool to put the white collar in, the spring loaded fitting on the line isnt stuck. Im totally lost here. I push hard as anything and it will slide in the fitting but wont pop and stay in their.. any thoughts???

Welcome to this forum! Clean the fitting, and apply even pressure all around the connector.

I have the car on my lift and I reach up and put both hands on it and push in as hard as I can. I know this sounds dumb. I know. Does the fitting have to be indexed or anything? I dont see a right way or wrong way like an electrical connection...
