The module is probably overheating since it doesn't make contact with the heat sink. You could either use different machine screws that are thicker (tap the hole to the next size) or use a Helicoil repair kit if you want to keep the same size screws. Sheet metal screws should work too.

Cool. I'll tap it out and put another screw in it to make it tight.

After that, what other components could I check, that may cause the module to go bad, in case it isn't the mounting screw. What things would you look for, and in what order? I want to get it all right the first time. Thank you! I'm learning as I go...

Okay, drilled and tapped the hole for a new screw and bought some new heat sink paste from best buy to put behind the module. It's worked today. I'll post how it's working out. thank you.

For those curious (I often wonder if others' fixes have worked); an update. I know it's been a while. Long story short, after the above mentioned fix, my wife passed away. I quit lots of things afterward, driving the van was one of them.

However, I've been getting back into driving the van. Knock on wood, the new hole, screws, and Best Buy heat sink paste seem to have so far worked. It's been about 120-130 miles since and haven't seen the ICM problem yet. Thanks for the help.
