Remote key fob frequency

The light on the start button flashes as it should and there is never any message on the instrument cluster When I push the start button again within one minute nothing happens. When I push the unlock button on the remote to end programing nothing happens. Start button continues to flash for a period of time and then stops on its own. When I push the unlock on the remote I can hear a faint click somewhere in the rear of the car and that is all there is. Next time I go to start after doing this the factory keypad code appears on the instrument cluster. I have tried programing about 16 times now with always the same result. Had another person read the manual and watch me. She said I was doing it exactly as the book says.

Its not "seeing" the IA key then. Take one of your existing working IA keys and take the battery out. Put it in the same pocket in the center console with NO other IA FOBs in or around the car. The car should start. If not then you have a vehicle problem.

OK I did this and the car starts without the battery in original FOB. So everything considered, the new FOB must be defective. I am going to exchange it for a different one. Thanks to all for the help.

Update on my smart key fob.
I sent the one back that I was trying to program. They sent me another one and it ends up the same way as the previous one. When i bought this the add said it is new but when I go to the site they also have refurbished ones that are cheaper by about $20.00. They charged me the cheaper price so I suspect it is refurbished. The book that came with the car says if I have a pre-programed fob it has to be erased before it will accept a new program. I am going to take it to a dealer and see what happens. Thanks to all for the advice. It has helped me make decisions on this challenge. :)

Final conclusion of this saga. Took it to dealer. The key fob I purchased online
is junk. Dealer could not do anything with it either. All that work for nothing, end of story. Thanks to everyone for the help. It is much appreciated.:salute:
