2007 Ford Explorer
Very frustrated and hoping that somebody has an idea of what the problem could be with my 2007 Explorer (Eddie Bauer if that matters). Here's the situation:

The remote (key fob) suddenly stopped working about 6 months ago. Tried changing the battery. Remote still didn't work. Ordered new remote, and programmed it. Remote still didn't work (note that the programming seemed to work fine ... when I pushed the lock button on the remote during programming the doors did lock).

Realizing that the problem was something in the vehicle itself and not the remote, I put off doing anything about it for the past 6 months. A couple of days ago my kid randomly pushed a button on the remote and the Explorer responded. The remote then proceeded to work correctly for about a day, and now it doesn't work anymore.

Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

Could the electric locks just be going bad?

I have exactly the same problem with my 2007 Eddie Bauer.
A few days ago the remote function stopped working. Removed battery and tried other remotes.
Programming worked find and the system sent a response after doing it.
But no remote function.

Initially the key fob that came with it was worn out. So I ordered two knock-offs off Ebay.

It worked somewhat at first but only if I stood next to the driver's door and hit the unlock button about 5 times. Now it doesn't work at all. Both key fobs don't work.

I figured it was the transponder in the vehicle that was going bad then finally gave up the ghost.

I have not tried new batteries. Although the fobs are not that old.

Yesterday I disconnected the battery for about half an hour.
Reconnected and reprogrammed the remote (ebay).
After that and until now everything worked fine again!
In my opinion, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery results a kind of reloading parts of the car's "system software".
It's like a PC's restart.
