key remote not working properly

i have to hold the button for like 2 sec otherwise it's not working. before i only need to tap the button once

my '97 did this because the PO installed the battery wrong. flipped the battery over the right way and it functioned normally. have you had the battery out?

no, i didnt change anything, 1 week ago, everything's fine
