Remote Start Activation

lol... I didn't say my key was "special", just that the button scheme was different than I have seen sold, and that for some reason my explorer came with a hood pin installed (which made me wonder if there is functionality possible in that middle [unlabeled] button).

Do all 5 spaces in the PCB of the "4 button" model have circuitry to them? I could imagine (for cost purposes) that all the PCBs were made the same for every key (of that form factor), and then the programming (or lack of a push button) merely enables/disables buttons from functioning.

I wonder if you were to put another push button in the empty space, would it send out any kind of signal at all? (without being reprogrammed). If its capable of sending a signal, its capable of controlling something. But yea... my question would then be: has anyone come up with a way to reprogram the FOB (in the same way that they have to reprogram the BCM)?

PS. there was no option (that I saw) for remote window control for Explorers. obviously the hardware is capable, but yea I didn't even see that as an option in the IDS menu. you'd probably have to edit the code directly, or install an aftermarket module to do it (which is what I plan on doing). I purchased this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IAC2EA?tag=itsalgo-20 awhile ago. I'd like to install myself and save the $150 install cost... but I haven't found any resources that'll show me how to yet.
