Remove running boards?

Anyone ever remove their running boards before? I would like to remove them on my 17 Explorer. They can be useful but I feel they just get in the way more than they're worth. Plus I like the look better without them. I would hope this would be an at home kind of job with just removing some bolts. Nothing should be rusted I would think. Anyone tackle this job before?

Not sure. I am thinking that is the case and that these are OEM. They have the matching chrome accent on them that matches the chrome trim that runs along the bottom of the doors.
