Removing bad wheel bearings

Ok to night i'm driving back from school about 10 miles from home on the highway. I'm in between a on ramp an d an off ramp and I first hear a grinding and then a bang from drivers front tire. So pull over right a way. Thinking something bad I call a tow truck. About 45 minutes later truck shows up. After we get the truck back to thehouse and pay the guy a 100.00 bux. I decide what the hell let me pull the wheel and check the hub and bearings. I pull everything apart and as i pulling the brake rotor off small piece of metal fall out. The piece of metal are in thr form a odd looking rectangles. After competely pulling the rotor i find that the inner has destroyed itself.
I also see that part of the bearing is still on the spindle.

So right now I really don't know how I'm going to get the part off.
Guys what the best way to get the inner shield off of the spindle?

Dremel tool with a fiberglass cutting wheel. Be really careful when close to going thru. Maybe finish up with a piece of a hacksaw blade by hand to avoid cutting into the spindle.

That's my idea and I'm sticking to it.

Clean it really good and apply heat to the bearing race. NOT TOO MUCH! Heating it up with a torch will cause it to expand, helping to remove it. Just remember that if you heat the spindle, it will expand too, and if you overheat it you can damage the spindle. DO NOT GET THE SPINDLE RED!!! Heating the bearing to a couple hundred degrees should allow you to tap it off with a hammer and cold chisel, but just be careful not to gouge the spindle when you do it.

Got the wheel bearing inner ring off the spindle. Had to break out the torch to cut it off. I made a mild cut with the torch and then with a cold chisel. Tapped at the ring till it freed up. Other wise the spindle was in good shape and lightly sanded the spindle to make sure. NO imprefections.

FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS - HELP NEEDED

How hard is it to replace my inner and outer front wheel bearings? When I went to NAPA the part numbers for the inner and outer where the same - is that correct? Do I need new bearing shields? Most importantly, how hard IS it to replace the bearings?

Hey parli22 you have bad ball joints thats what cause your wheel bearings to do that. mine did the exact same thing, I just got a new spindle for 35 bux and trashed the old one with the race still welded to it

NO, new ball joints and everything in front
think the truck is become allergic to mud last time got stuck in the mud at paragon. Also checked the front diff i looked like mud inside had go clean that. But everything is fine and dandy rightnow

Yes, the inner and outer bearings for a first gen x are the same.... They are easy to change.. It may take a few hours for the first one you do.. then it is easy once you know what your doing..

It takes me longer to grease the bearings than it does everything else (other than lifting the truck and taking the tire off)
