Removing interior trim piece removal question

The silver piece that runs along the entire door below the handle, does that just pop off? Looking at painting the interior pieces white but I don't want to try and pop it off and break anything but can't find any resources online about removing it from the door.

I am shocked in my search that I found this and yet, no reply. Did you ever find out if they pop off or not, or how they come off?

Why risk it? Take the whole panel off and see what's on the other side. If there's nothing there, it has to pop off.
