How?

This is about all that is left - swapping the ring gears - for my Auburn install. Any ideas on removing the ring gear?

Use an Impact gun to remove all the botls, and then get a BFH and a Steel pin (something that will bottom out in the bolt hole, and hit it with the BFH, moving it around from hole to hole. Eventually it will come off. Then to re-install the ring gear, Bring the ring gear up and start each bolt in the hole by hand then you use the same impact gun set on its Highest setting, and work your way around in a criss cross pattern(same as you would do with Lug Nuts) I have been told you CAN NOT break the ring gear bolts.

Hey Chris,
I was wondering if I needed a BFH or not. I'm not concerned with the carrier as it is trashed anyhow. The bolts came off easy enough (4' breaker bar), but the ring sucks a$$. I'll give that a shot.

It seems the Auburn with the existing shim pack fits in just right. Of course the final test will be when it's all cranked down. I guess I'm off to BFH land to see about getting this thing off. Worse case is I can bring it to my mechanic tomorrow to have it pressed off...

Update:
I will now only buy BFH brand tools. They are tough, take a beating and get the job done! Chris - thanks for the help!
