I was wondering if anyone has removed the "Explorer XLT" badge from their tailgate.....and how about the "V8 All-Wheel Drive Badge"? I'm just wondering if either of them have posts like the "Ford" oval does. I know some people have done this but I'm talking specifically the 95-97 models becasue I want to be sure. Any info would be great, Thanks!

Aren't they just stuck on there? Anyway just try heating it up with say... a hair dryer maybe, I can't remember, but alot of people de-badge their trucks here so someone bound to answer this one better.

OK...I tried a few more searches and found some more info. I guess I probably do have holes on my "Explorer XLT" emblem...but still not positive. I'm pretty sure from the looks of my V8 emblem that it's just a sticker - does anybody know for sure? Expo5.0, you removed them from your front fenders, didn't you?

actually, i think, on a 96, they do have the posts, so youre gonna have holes there.

the way i took mine off (but i dont have the holes) is to use a hair dryer to heat em up, than fishing line - get the line behind the emblem and scrape it off, then i used some mineral spirits and then put some wax on there.

Yeah they do have posts. I took off the cover on the liftgate of my 94 to check a few years back.

I have a '96 XLT with the "XLT" part of the badge removed (I thought it looked lame). There are two pins, one behind the E and one behind the R.

If you wanna be cool like me (lol) and remove the XLT part, just follow tbomb's advice above and then snap that bad boy off!

The V-8 is a sticker. We took it off my friend's '96 5.0 XLT.

Out.

Just to go along with this, if ANYONE has shaved their badges on a 98+ Explorer, LET ME HAVE THEM!! I've been desperately looking for them with no luck :(

hartman, i told you that you could have mine for free if you email me a few days before thanksgiving.

I know!! I seeing if anybody else had them available. Don't forget about me, I'll be e-mailing you...
