Having a bit of trouble figuring out what I'm gonna have to do to remove it so I could have a rwd explorer. Any help or advice?

Why do you want a RWD Explorer?

Because my overall plans are to drop it about 3 inches, supercharge it, get some nice racing rims, lighten it up by removing things like the t-case, and make it fast....i know its a truck but i want the looks and space of the truck and i also want speed of a decent car....I never use the 4x4 and if i remove it i will get better fuel economy (for now) as well as shed some poundage. We've all heard of the Svt cobra and the Svt lightning...well im going to make me an Svt Xploder..lol thats my goal.

that is one of my projects the other is trying to fit a supercharged Ls2 into a 2002 cavalier....lol.

Umm you'll need to change the transmission output shaft from a 4wd based one to a 2wd one or rather change the tranny too plus driveshaft

Welcome to me and Limiteds game. The removal of hte T case is easy enough but finding the rear end cap for the transmission and removing the front pumpkin may be a little harder, id go take a good look at a 2x4 explorer before i started anything. When my transmission goes im getting a level 10 bullet proof trans thats already set up for 2x4. 3 inches of drop wouldnt be smart, 1.5 and some sway bars would be fine. Ulitmate build list is this

MMR 5.3L (bored and stroked 4.6L block) built for 1000+ RWHP
Trick flow heads
Crower stage 3 or stage 2 cams (light lift) + steeda cam gears
Steeda underdrive pullies
Kenne bell twin screw supercharger
Fuel mods to support 700+ rwhp
10+ wide rear tires.

such a build could easily run 15-20 grand. And dont forget that after about 400 the diffs and stock trans in this beast are no good. and will have to be upgraded as well. Im fairly certain i wont ever go down this road with my truck, but myself and limited have spent hundreds of hours doing research. Good luck and keep us posted.

As Zerodevil said, we are all thinking the same about speed;) Easiest way would be to find a 2wd transmission to swap in and remove the 4x4 setup(sell it and get some money back?). I personally like the 4x4 because it snows here and it helps in the rain(I have a heavy foot). Mounty03 is running low 12's in the 1/4 with a full weight AWD Mountaineer and the only problem is he keeps blowing transmissions. He also has a turbo and built block.

So find a 2wd tranny, swap out the 4x4 tranny and other stuff and have fun!

can i have all your goodies that make it 4x4? XD i'll give you my 4x2 junk. :)

youre also gonna wana change youre front end over to 2x4, and put a 5spd manual in that thing, youre automatic isnt gona hold up to long with that supercharger

i do have another option....my aunt has a 2002 explorer sport....4.0 is bout to take a dump on her. She didnt keep up with it. so im sure i could get it real cheap from her once it takes the plunge.

But as for my X im gonna look into some options with it....i want a sleeper truck and i know its gonna cost me.

An 02 explorer is a different breed from an 02 Sport
Trans may work, but front 2wd suspension will not
