Replace 1999 explorer motor with a 1999 ranger motor

My 1999 4.0L Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer engine chains broke down and I'm going to try to replace it with a 1999 4.0L EFI Ford Ranger engine.

I need to know if it is a straight fit or if I need to change some parts or move around stuff.

Not a direct swap, and both must be same type SOHC or OHV you can match the VINs also, 8th character.

Ranger is OHV V6

The stock Ranger 4.0L engine in 1999 was the OHV V6. The SOHC V6 wasn't used until 2001. Either engine was available on Explorers in 1999 so you need to follow drdoom's advice and check the 8th digit of the VIN if you don't know how to recognize the difference.
