Looking to see how everyone deals with scuffed up door sill plates. I have a 2013 Limited and the metal piece on the sills with Explorer letters has scratches an would like to replace them but not finding many options online that I like.

Could just order new set from Ford I guess what figured I would check with the community here first.

In looking at www.fordparts.com it seems that the metal piece (scuff plate) is part of what they refer to as the Front Door Sill Plate part #13208. The reason I believe it part of that plastic strip is because they have them for different interior colours. Cost is $90. I don't know if you could hook up the illuminated EXPLORER scuff plate in a Limited model. That one would run $240. That is the same one used in the Sport.
Good luck.

A while back I was considering replacing those plates also. But how long would it take before the new shiny plates look like the old ones??? It's too bad Ford didn't decide on a different texture that would HIDE scratches, etc. The illuminated plates on my wife's Lincoln MKT have the same problem. Maybe even worse. Go figure.

I hear you...My Sill Plates are scratched to crap after one CANADIAN WINTER....oh well...life goes on.

I've given up replacing ANYTHING scratched in the car... because the part prices are so outrageous. I've got a couple panels in the cargo bay scratched, and the plastic piece under the front bumper. I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars to fix scratches

Is there not a way to just polish them or are they fairly deep scratches?
