So weather dipped below freezing and had a rodent spend the night in my 2007 mountaineer. In addition to some wire damage looks like he managed to chew the black AC vacuum hose right by the firewall so air is now stuck in defrost mode.
Used info found on another forum post to troubleshoot and temporarily resolve with the dowel rod trick the other poster used however I want to get working on fixing.
Couple of quick questions :
1) What is the size and type of vacuum hose I should get to replace?
2) In tracing the lines I noticed they grey line comes out of the engine firewall and routes into a cylinder under the hood plugging into the top vertically. At the bottom of this device is a right angle connector with an open port/hole like another tube plugs into it yet I can't seem to find a lose hose? Wondering as this is exactly where the animal was sitting munching on one of my wires so not sure if there is something more that needs to go here.
And yes, I'll be working to resolve the rodent issue permanently as well...already installed a ultrasonic deterrent under the hood and am putting out some traps now!
Thanks in advance!
