i was wondering if anyone had replaced their own intake gaskets and orings on a 4.0 SOHC? i am having a bad idle problem with my 99 explorer SOHC and my CEL came on and i got the code PO171 lean bank 1 & 2. .. .cleaned the MAF and changed the plugs and still rough idle on start up i called ford about OOM12 but since i have a previous rebuild on my title they wont fix it under warranty. . .i am a pretty decent on working on vehicles but have never tore into a SOHC. . .any help would be appreciated

What about the O2 sensors? If they are indicating a lean condition, the computer will compensate by making an overly-rich mixture and cause some rough idling (especially when cold).

Bigtime:

Do a search for the 00M12 repair. Someone did have a very detailed post a year or 2 ago. I think that someone else even has their repair procedure in pdf.

So I'll move this up top for you hoping they will respond.

You can't replace them. You're going to have to buy another car.
