Replacing PCV valve on '03 x/xls

Hello! This is my first post of a new thread.

I need to check the PCV valve on my '03 x/xls. According to the Haynes manual it's located at the back of the left valve cover. It looks very difficult to get at. Is there a trick? Is there something simple I can remove to make it easier? I tried searching this forum but didn't come up with much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry about that! I did another search and came up with several results. I don't know what I searched the first time, but I couldn't believe I got no results for a pcv valve. Although the PCV valve still looks difficult to access, it looks like it's a "screw in type" behind the left (drivers side) valve cover. And it looks like the hose just pulls off. Correct? The post showing the picture from the '03 repair manual is helpful. Thanks.

Thanks BROOKLYNBAY, your links were very helpful....it took me 10 min. to install the PCV valve (hopefully properly.)
