Replacing Serpentine Belt: Very Difficult?

Yeah, at least that's what I did. just turn the ratchet clockwise and it will loosen the belt

Loosen the bolt?... you Do mean turn the tensioner (with the bolt) so it makes the belt loose.. right? =\

my post says belt, do we need to send you back to kindergarden to learn the difference between e's and o's?:D

Woah, we just lost half the thread...

Any ideas on how to get the belt off, I know how to use the tensioner.. I can loosen it.. but can't get my hand anywhere in there to pull it off?

Umm, you can't reach ANY pulley? Once you pop it off any of the pulleys, it's off.

Or, if it's really that much of an issue, use a knife, scissors, or a box cutter. There's nothing that says you have to take the old belt off in one piece.

Ah, I thought you HAVE to take it off the tensioner only... Alright then..
Plus I was trying to take it off as less things as possible.. There's very little room in there to re-route the belt..

I agree with you, with just the time he's spent posting in this thread it could be done probably a couple times over.

You just have to release tension with the tensioner, after it's loose you can take it off wherever you can get to, it doesn't matter where you do it. Just take the belt all the way off and get it out of your way, it could probably stand to be replaced anyway. It only takes a minute or 2 to get a belt routed again.

I've just been waiting for my alternator they've been delaying for weeks, it doesn't hurt to discuss these things while I wait.
